Oswald Oelz was born in 1943 in Austria and graduated to M. D. at the University of Innsbruck in 1968. His professional career started at the University Hospital of Zurich with four years of research on insulin-like growth factors. Subsequently, he was an intern and resident in internal medicine. The research activities of Oswald Oelz include work on insulin-like growth factors, diabetes, arachidonic acid metabolites and pathophysiology and treatment of acute mountain sickness and high altitude pulmonary edema. He has published over two hundred scientific papers, several books as well as numerous articles on health issues and attempts to live a fulfilled life.
Oswald Oelz has climbed extensively all over the world and was the third person to climb the highest peak of each continent so called "seven summits". In his free time he reads, writes an breeds Tyrolean Stone Sheeps.
